Steps to Consider Before Even Looking for Homes

 

There are enough "home buyer tips" around to fill a dictionary sized book.  Heck, our blog here is loaded with Home Buyer Tips…. but there are a few KEY tips to consider before you even go for that Sunday drive looking at homes, even on a "let's just see what's out there" level.

 

1 - Decide what kind of home are you looking for.  It is best to have an idea of what kind of home you are seeking before you even start looking.

 

2 - What kind of neighborhood do you have in mind?

 

3 - Do you have a preference for new construction versus something older?

 

4 - What style of home appeals to you?

 

5 - What size and layout appeals to you?

 

6 - Do you want a fixer upper, or something in move-in condition?

 

It is also helpful to come up with a list of items that are negotiable and a list of items that are non-negotiable.  If you get this much done before you even get in the car or talk to a real estate professional, you'll be MILES AHEAD in the home buying game.
